Christian Psychotherapy

Welcome to a space where faith and professional therapy meet with compassion, insight and deep respect. I am David Kraft PhD, a psychotherapist, psychologist and hypnotherapist with many years of experience. Based in Harley Street, central London, I also work with clients in Enfield, north London, as well as online throughout Europe.

What Does “Christian Psychotherapy” Mean Here?

While I do not describe myself strictly as a ‘Christian Psychotherapist’, I am a practising Christian, and I bring a particular understanding of Christian life, spirituality and moral questions into the therapeutic process. My background is shaped not only by decades of professional training and practice, but also by faith: my mother is a priest in the Anglican Church, and that upbringing gives me particular sensitivity to Christian beliefs and values. At the same time, I work with people of all faiths (or none), drawing from psychodynamic, solution-focused, behavioural and hypnotherapeutic approaches, tailoring therapy to each individual.

My Role as Psychotherapist and Psychologist

As a psychotherapist and trained psychologist, I provide a rich, integrative approach. My training includes psychoanalytic psychotherapy, brief solution-focused therapy and behavioural techniques, which I sometimes combine with clinical hypnosis to enhance therapeutic change.

I am UKCP-registered, and I hold a Master’s in Psychology.  Over the years, I have treated a broad range of issues: anxiety, panic, phobias, sleep disturbances, psychosomatic symptoms, relationship challenges, and more.

Why Work with Me — Especially as a Christian Client

  • A Faith-Aware Perspective: I understand the complexities of religious life — guilt, prayer, doubt, calling, purpose — because I live them. I can help you work through faith-related struggles in a psychologically informed, spiritually sensitive way.
  • Highly Experienced: With a practice on Harley Street, I bring to therapy decades of experience, academic scholarship and clinical work.
  • Approachable and Warm: I pride myself on being very approachable, with a good sense of humour and genuine care. Therapy need not feel cold or clinical — I aim to make sessions feel safe, real and even occasionally light-hearted.
  • Multicultural & Global Reach: In addition to face-to-face therapy in North London, Enfield and Harley Street, I provide online psychotherapy, so I am able to work with clients across Europe.
  • Accessible Locations: My Enfield clinic is centrally located in North London, while my Harley Street practice offers the prestige and discretion of central London.

How Christian Beliefs Can Inform Psychotherapy?

In my practice, Christianity can be woven into therapy in many ways, but always in a client-led and respectful manner:

  • Exploring how faith contributes to identity: We might talk about vocation, sin, redemption, calling, and how your faith shapes your self-understanding.
  • Working through spiritual struggles: Guilt, doubt, anger with God, moral decision-making — these are all valid subjects in therapy.
  • Integrating prayer and scripture: If you wish, I can support you in reflecting on Biblical passages, prayer practices or Christian disciplines as part of your therapeutic journey.
  • Addressing psychological and spiritual growth together: Therapy can be a place to grow not just emotionally or mentally, but also spiritually — to deepen your faith as well as your psychological insight.

My Approach to Psychotherapy

  1. Assessment & Understanding
We begin with a detailed but compassionate assessment of your life, your faith, your struggles and your goals.
  2. Tailored Treatment Plan
I draw on different therapeutic modalities — psychodynamic therapy, behaviour therapy, solution-focused work and hypnosis — to build a plan that fits you, not a one-size-fits-all model.
  3. Therapeutic Relationship
I believe in a strong, warm therapeutic alliance. My sessions are collaborative: we work together, with humour when appropriate, but with serious commitment to your growth.
  4. Faith-Compatible Techniques
If you wish, faith and spirituality may be part of our work, but only in a way that feels comfortable, respectful and non-judgmental.
  5. Online & In-Person Options
You may choose to meet in person in Enfield (North London), or at Harley Street, or remotely via secure online video — whichever suits you best.

If you are searching for a Christian psychotherapist or psychologist or someone who combines professional therapy with a Christian understanding, you have come to the right place. My aim is to provide accessible healing rooted in both psychological expertise and spiritual insight.
