Mental Health Care for the Military
Topic: Top quality psychological support for the military.
I contacted SSAFA which I think is the longest-standing support network for the military. They suggested that I need counselling. I am suffering from being ni the forces too long and it is driving me mad. I lost my mother recently and it is like losing a limb. I feel that I need to control everything around me and when I don’t get my on way and get angry. I count thin obsessionally and it helps me reduce my fear but it returns again very quickly. I have fought all over the place – in Basra, Baghdad, Ireland, in the Baltics, in North Africa. I am constantly cold in this country and feel isolated. I feel isolated everywhere apart from when I am on tour. But I crave coming home on the second day of being posted. It is insane. I feel isolated on the plane unless I am with my girlfriend as she takes care of me. I am based near Sandhurst but I am too busy and I hate the London Underground. I am also sometimes at my sisters house in Notts so I can’t come to visit soon. Can I speak to you on the telephone? Please help.
All the aspects of our psychological state which you describe are common in those whom have been away in the forces. The problem is one of re-integration and dealing with any traumas or stress in your active service. I would be delighted to help, as I have helped many veterans before you.
Please contact my secretary on 0207 467 8564 and we will book you in for an appointment. If you are unable to come and visit me by public transport, I can offer you telephone counselling at a reduced rate. Many individuals in the military respond well to telephone counselling because it does not interfere with their life and they can do in the comfort of their own home.

UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist, Councillor and Hypnotherapist
Thank you for helping me with my PTSD. The hypnotherapy worked!
Dear Dr David Kraft
Thank you so much for helping me with my PTSD. I am now able to lead a more fulfilled life without looking over my shoulder all day. No more fake snipers and no more mortars while going shopping. I can now celebrate my achievements and enjoy living as a civilian. I will always be a warrant officer, but I can now enjoy my retirement. Your approach to psychotherapy was just what I needed. It worked because you have worked with veterans before. I understand that you use psychotherapy and this is what works. The hypnotherapy was not needed. Thanks. A Warrant Officer, First Class, UK.
Gurkha seeking psychological treatment for PTSD and Panic Disorder
Dear Dr David Kraft
I am a Gurkha. I am a member of the 4th Prince of Wales’ Own Gurkhas and I would like to seek treatment for panic disorder. I have fought all over the place. Military is my life. I am in long family of military. All my male family fought in the military. Fought in the gulf, in Afghanistan, in the Falklands, in World War 2, Korea, World War 1, Boer War. They all suffered and they were brave. They were brave fighters and proud. They fought for their country and they did us all proud. Noone complained of the horrors for war and always being on look out. They all had problems getting back into society; becoming integrated; walking around with no rank. They all had problems and did not speak. I am now speaking. I want to get my life back. I don’t want to suffer. I have panic attacks everywhere. And I have PTSD. I have it in the supermarket, and everywhere I go. I suffer from PTSD. Yes. I have said it. Please help a veteran. I understand that you have helped other veterans in the service from my friends who have seen specialists at hospital. You know, the MoD hospitals, or, as they now call them, ‘Ministry of Defence Hosptial Units’ which are embedded within civilian hospitals. I have seen a psychotherapist, psychologist, a CBT practitioner and it wasn’t tailored to my psychological needs. I have been to them all. I have been to Frimley Park, and, by the way, the VRMHP is rubbish.
I would like to see someone who is dedicated to helping me. I would like a psychotherapist or a psychologist but someone who listens to me and my needs.
Thank you for contacting me. You have my contact details. I look forward to meting you in person. I can see you for psychotherapy and/or counselling in Harley Street or in Enfield Town. Please contact me by e-mail so that we can speak in confidence.
Enfield Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and PTSD. Can you help using hypnotherapy?
Dear Dr Kraft
I am a veteran and I worked all over Iraq, Qatar, Afganistan and even in Ireland. I then, from the Territorial Army, moved on to become a regular. I worked through the ranks and I am now an officer. Rank: Captain.
I have seen some terrible sights in Iraq. On one occasion, we were being shot at continuously for nearly two week. I worked in Baghdad, Basrah and in Al Jahra in Kuwait. I have seen children lying dead on the floor with their bodies blown to pieces and I need to speak to you. I am lost. Sometimes, when there is a tragedy I can deal with everything around me like Superman. But, sometimes, I fall to pieces. I feel like I cannot do the simplest of things. I am frightened and always looking over my shoulder, and I panic like a baby. I am suffering from PTSD.
I know that you have had experience working in this areas, and it says all about it on your website. I was recommended by my doctor at the MoD hospital near my UK case and she said that I should come to see you.
Please help and contact me as soon as you can.
I should very much like to help you and I will be able to see you next week. Please ring my secretary on 0207 467 8564, and we will fit you in at some point next week.
